True
God is...
With the very destiny of your soul at stake and very literally heaven or hell for eternity, you cannot afford to make a mistake. You need to be able to trust in One who will not let you down. You now know that we cannot trust in ourselves or in any other man, or any religion of men, for we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3 v23) and the Bible says there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1Timothy 2v5).
Too many people say, 'I think that...'. It really doesn’t matter what we think; it only matters what God says as it’s His home we want to be in - Heaven. What matters is where we can find the truth. It will not be in our own philosophies, but in the Word of God. Read it, you could start with the Gospel of John (for free copies see contacts section).
The Word of God presents One to you who is worthy to be trusted, because of who He is - God the Son, the Creator of the universe- and also because of what He did, as the Saviour of the world.
Has He not proven Himself worthy of your trust? Can you trust someone who loved you so much that He took your place and suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God (1 Peter 1 v 3 v 18)? Can you trust someone who has suffered long with how casually and arrogantly you have treated Him and yet still He loves you? Can you trust someone who holds the breath of your life in His hand and has never closed it, even though you have blasphemed His name? Can you not trust the God of the universe?
Think, on His goodness, and let the goodness of God lead you to repentance (Romans 2 v4).
Think, did He do enough to save your soul when He, Christ, died for the ungodly(Romans 5 v6)
Think, is there something deficient about the work of Christ that is not enough for you?
Think, can you add to a finished work? Does it need a finishing hand from a sinner like me? .
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2v 9)
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16 v 31) You can be sure that faith in Christ will save you. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3 v 36)
Is it as simple as that? Yes, but let us be clear: to repent and believe is a life-changing experience. The Lord Jesus spoke of being born again (see John 3). God gives new life to someone who repents of their sin and trusts in Jesus Christ; a life which gives us power to live for God's pleasure. It is not a matter of you giving your life to God; it is God giving you a new life. This faith is not some light-hearted commitment; it is a full turning to God to serve Him with love and devotion. It is not some sort of fire escape from hell. It is a recognition that I have sinned and am not worthy of God’s blessing, but God is worthy of my trust forever.
Repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is the beginning and not the end. You will have the peace of God, which passeth all understanding (Philippians 4 v 7). You will have a new direction in life - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Cornithans 5 v17)- and you will have the assurance of His care: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (1Peter 5 v 7 ). He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8 v 32).
