"... through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins"
The Bible: Acts 13.38
The Bible speaks of the Gospel of God. 'Gospel' simply means 'good news'. Many see John 3 v 16 as a beautiful summary of this message of good news: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
You might ask , 'Why are we perishing?'. Each of us has been born as a sinner and by nature we commit sins daily. God is Holy; He hates sin. His standard is higher than ours; it is absolute Holiness, and so we are all under judgement for our sins. It is obvious that we need our sin to be taken away.
This crisis is not one we can resolve ourselves. The question then arises, 'Can and will God resolve this problem of our sin and His Holiness'?
God has provided the answer. God sent His Son to be the Saviour of the world (1 John 4 v 14); His purpose in coming into the world was to be the sacrifice for sin. Isaiah the prophet foretold this in chapter 53: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
This happened at the cross- Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust that he might bring us to God (1 Peter 3 v 18). The Word of God also states that God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5 v 8).The story does not end there, for God raised His Son from the dead, thus showing that Christ in His sinless perfection had paid the price for our sin in full.
The invitation of the Gospel is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16 v 31). The promise of God is That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10v9).
Yes, you can have salvation, a hope of heaven and the immeasurable blessing of God.
"...believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."
